Yogurt Fish



This a dish made of Rohu fish. Though it can be made with any similar kind of fish.

What is it:-

This is called doi mach. Fish with yougurt. It will be sweet/sour/spicy combination in taste.

Ingredients:-

1 kg of scaled rohu fish cut into pieces.
1 and half Onion + 1 tomato grinded in paste.
2 tsp of garlic ginger paste.
3 tbsp mustard oil.
Ginger/Garlic paste 2 tsp.
A cup of yougurt properly mixed with 1 tsp of sugar and pinch of salt.
6 cloves+4 bay leaves+4 cardamom+2 cinnamom.
1 tsp turmeric powder.
1 tsp chilli powder.
Salt to taste.

Preparation:-

Step1:-
Marinate the fishes with turmeric and salt for 15 min.

Step2:-
Fry the fish pieces in mustard oil. Oil should be hot enough and of proper amount so that fish dont get stuck to the pan.




Step3:-
Put mustard oil in a non-sticky pan.
Then add cinnamom+bay leaves+cardamom+cloves and fry for sometime.
Add the onion+tomato paste and keep frying untill water goes out and the mixture becomes brownish.
Add chilli powder+turmeric powder+salt and stir untill they all mixed properly and no turmeric smell is there.

Step 4:-
Now pour 2 tbsp yougurt paste and mix it with the spices properly. Keep pouring the remaining yougurt and mix it well with the content.Once the content is think and dry,pour one and half cup of warm water. When the content starts boiling put the fried fish gently so that those dont break. Your soup amount should be just enough to dip the fishes in the content. You may need to put more/less warm water.

Step 5:-
Cover the lid and get the things boiled for 10 min.There should not be more soup. The content should be gravy.Close the oven. Serve.

tadaaaa.......its done.....lets eat....


Serving:-
Serve with jasmine/basmati rice..
Can serve 4-5 person.

Cooking Time:-30 Min.
